What does this clip say to you?

The clip tells me that even though we are all scattered across the globe and we are separated from one another, we may have different cultures and different beliefs but when we as a whole come together, we are all the same people and it makes us a team or a family.

What questions would you ask about this clip?

Some questions i would ask:

Why did Matt make this movie?

Who did Matt make this movie for?

Why is everyone so happy?

How much did all his travel expenses cost?

What is the meaning of this movie?

What was Matt’s inspiration?

Why did Mr Carr show this movie in this particular project and in this point of time.

I think that Mr Carr showed this movie to us because he wanted us to see that the media doesnt always portray the good view of countries but here we show that one man with a big heart and a little dance can inspire people to come together.Just like ourselves, this movie can bring us at this time to stick together and be happy as one.

  • What influences your values about issues relating to your life?

My values about issues relating to my life are influenced by other people and by the media. Like when i feel like running out of home, the media portrays running away as a way to get out of home or get out of punishment, but if i was to run away i would run away from the troubles in my life, i would get a hiding. But another way media influences my values about issues in my life is when celebrities don’t go to church then they sometimes influence my on why should i have to go to church.

  • Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why not?

Yes sometimes like when the media only shows people dying when there is a killing rampage it kinda to me relates to the plagues of which happened in the bible and was killing everyone. Also when i look at the media and celebrities influence me to not go to church, then i remember that i have to go to church because Jesus in the bible says that i should go to Church every Sunday.

Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not

In a way this project has taught me to examine my values because, when the media publishes something, they are not always true or factual. Most of the time they portray things differently and they don’t show you what your not interested in. But yes it has taught me to examine my values because next time i view the news or something that the media publishes then i need to look into it before i believe anything.

  • How do you feel the media portrays social justice issues?

The media portarays social justice issues as a negative of the world. They dont say why or how this image is like this but they just say post an image there and dont say what its about, because they dont know the true meaning of the image. Like if they show a poor african family, they want us to think that they are truly poor but really they are happy and content with what they have.

  • Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?

Sometimes it has been difficult to find a social justice article because the media dont publish everything they want to publish because of legal reasons, and when we want to find something, not everything is there.

  • Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research.

Find TWO current media topics which you consider to be social justice or moral issues. Then using your eduBlog Page, under the category CST/IST – Project 5, answer the following questions for each media topic.

MORAL ISSUE

1. Name the issue

David Gallop stunned on IRB’s reply on Sonny Bill Williams

 2. Describe one media account of this issue

The media account in this issue if mainly about Sonny Bill Williams leaving the NRL but running out on a five year contract with the Bulldogs. But the damaging second rower is only in his first year of his contract. And David Gallop dissapointed at the refusal of the IRB to dissallow Sonny Bill Williams from playing Union in France.

 3. Where did you get this media account from?

I had received this media account from http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/sport/nrl/story/0,26799,24109476-5006066,00.html

 4. Is this media account correct or reliable? Why?

This media account is correct because i have read other news reports  and they are the same or similar.

 5. Where else might you be able to find more information about this issue?

On the TV or other news websites like Foxsports or newspaper magazines.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

1. Name the issue

BusinessWorld: Number of poor families rising

2. Describe one media account of this issue

This issue mainly focuses on the fact that poverty rates in families are rising and also in MANILA, Philippines – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo may have declared a 20-year low in self-rated poverty as an accomplishment but a worsening economy has consigned that result, recorded in 2007, to history.

3. Where did you get this media account from?

I got this media account from the following link below:

http://www.gmanews.tv/story/110492/BusinessWorld-Number-of-poor-families-rising

4. Is this media account correct or reliable? Why?

Yes this account is true because statistics show that poverty has dropped in the Phillipenes and several magazine issues about the same topic state that this information is true.

5. Where else might you be able to find more information about this issue?

You could find this information on newspaper articles or on the television on the news.

1. Describe TWO things that you have learnt during this lesson.

In today’s lesson i have learnt that everything that you read in the newspaper or in the media is not true and it is up to you to decide whether the information given is factual or fictional. Another thing i learnt was that media can be manipulative to sell their story so that the audience or the public will buy their product.

2. Identify TWO areas you want to concentrate on during this project that you think need a greater improvement from the last project.

One area i would like to concentrate on during this project would be to organise my time management and another would be to make sure that i am always keeping contact with other group members so that i wont let other group members fall behind me.

3. Discuss TWO ways in which your group could resolve any disputes during this process.

One way my group could resolve any disputes is we could all sit at a table and talk together as mature men or we could just take our dispute to the teacher and ask if he could help us resolve our problem.
